"HE MANA TO TE KUPU"
Words have great power
This charity was founded in May 2022 to support Tāmaki Makaurau whānau through their Takiwātanga journey.
We are a small group of māmā who have lived experience within the disability sector supporting and advocating for our whānau and hapori.
As parents, we had limited access to services, support or organisations to help us through our journey and we want to make a change for the next whānau and the whānau after that.
We want to shift the negative culture, whakamā and stigma associated with Takiwātanga and turn it into a more positive one, by recognising strengths, gifts and uniqueness - just as our tūpuna did.
Our mission is to nurture and celebrate our takiwātanga whānau through a Te Ao Māori lens.

Our approach
Our team are based in the four main parts of Tāmaki Makaurau to provide localised support to whānau and professionals in their areas.
We look to partner with organisations who also value te ao Māori and want to build genuine connection for our hapori.
Our wānanga focus on whanaungatanga for whānau to make connections between themselves and to build our online facebook support group.
We provide spaces that are culturally rich, serving kai Māori & sharing cultural resources that nurture our unique identity and lifestyles.
We are continuously growing our service to respond to the needs of our hapori. We welcome all feedback!
