Takiwātanga Ki Tāmaki Makaurau charity is to educate, advocate and support whānau who identify as Takiwātanga in Auckland.

Our mission is to create a takiwātanga community in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland). We elevate mātauranga Māori and a Te Ao Māori worldview
Our kaupapa is based through Te Ao Māori and Tikanga Māori.
All takiwātanga and whānau are empowered to determine their aspirations in all aspects of Hauora; Taha Tinana, Hinengaro, Mauri and Wairua.
Aroha
This is the foundation of our kaupapa. We show kindness and compassion towards our whānau in our hapori which can be seen, felt and heard through the mahi we do.

Nurture leadership within the Takiwātanga community to positively impact whānau, hapū, iwi & hapori/community.

Inspire and strengthen whānau to become confident and informed decision-makers while embracing their Takiwātanga identity.

He aha tēnei?
Matua Keri Opai introduced the kupu Takiwātanga 'in his or her own time and space'. This kupu expresses Autism from a strengths-based view and with a te ao Māori worldview.
Tāmaki Makaurau is the rohe of Auckland with a population of approximately 250,000 Māori. There are multiple manawhenua spanning the rohe of Tāmaki Makaurau.
Our logo represents ngā maunga tapu, ngā hau tapu hoki o ngā manawhenua ki te Raki Paewhenua (North Auckland), Tāmaki ki te Hau a Uru (West Auckland), te Rāwhiti o Tāmaki Makaurau (East Auckland), Tāmaki ki te Tōnga (South Auckland).
